THERE'S NOTHING BASIC ABOUT THIS VIRAL FASHION MUST HAVE
Two young Aussie women have revolutionised how women style their outfits through their unique world-first invention - The Basic Band.
And the wardrobe must have has already led to a six figure business in less than 12 months - with plans to enter the US market.
Danielle Smyrneos and Nicole Costa developed the tuck band - which allows the wearer to reshape, crop and layer their garments to flattering fit - during the COVID lockdown in 2020.
"Just from a simple tool, women can create new looks without purchasing new clothes. They also have more versatility with the items they already have- saving them money and providing a sustainable option,”
Danielle said.
As best friends, the pair always borrowed each other's clothes, especially when they needed to look their best for their long meetings during their usual full-time work in marketing.
“We both have different body sizes and shapes, so we’d always try to make the outfits sit ‘this way’ or ‘hold this way,’ it wasn’t long after when we realised a tucking band might do the trick.”
And it did exactly that.
With the help of Nicole’s grandmother, the pair were able to create a prototype band that was comfortable and practical. And after endless nights of trialing, testing and experimenting with this band, it was quickly a sought-after piece for their outfits.
“At this point, we knew that this was a ‘wardrobe-must-have,’ and when we first launched back in November 2021, it was a huge milestone for us.” Nicole said.
Their first viral TikTok amassed more than 1.4 million views and skyrocketed hundreds upon hundreds of sales both nationally and internationally, with particular mention and notice from TikTok Influencer, Anna Paul.
As an Australian-owned and operated business, they’ve made an immense impact on pushing a sustainable way of dressing for ladies across the globe.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a size 4 or a size 26; our band was created for all ladies out there for all shapes and sizes,” Nicole said.
Within the next 12 months, the pair are planning to grow their product range and tackle the US market, where a lot of their customer base resides.
