GLAZED BEEF & ONION BURGER WITH CHEESY FRIES
Serves: Two
Ingredients:
Olive OIl
2 potatoes
1 tomato
Half brown onion
2 cloves garlic
40 gram cheddar cheese
250 gram beef mince
25 grams fine breadcrumbs
1 egg
15 grams BBQ spice blend
60 grams sweet and savoury glaze
Two burger buns
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Method:
Step 1: Bake Cheesy Fries
• Preheat the oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced.
• Cut potato into fries and place on the lined oven tray. Season with salt and drizzle with olive oil.
• Toss to coat and bake until tender, 20 mins.
• Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese. Bake until golden, 5-8 mins.
Step 2: Prep & Cook Onion
• Meanwhile, thinly slice tomato and brown onion (see ingredients). Finely chop or crush garlic.
• In a medium bowl, combine beef mince, garlic, fine breadcrumbs, the egg, BBQ seasoning and a pinch of salt. Shape mixture into 2cm-thick patties (1 per person).
• In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook onion, until tender, 4-5 mins. Transfer to a bowl. Season and cover to keep warm.
Step 3: Cook Patties & Buns
• Wipe out the pan and return to medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Cook patties until cooked through, 5-6 mins each side.
• Remove pan from heat and add sweet & savoury glaze and a splash of water, turning to coat
• Meanwhile, halve burger buns and bake directly on the oven rack until heated through, 2-3 mins.
Step 4: And serve!
• Spread the mayonnaise over bun bases and top with beef patties, onion and tomato slices. Spoon over any remaining glaze from the pan.
• Serve with cheesy fries.
